COLLECTIONS PROJECT.

'Collections' is a project started by artist Josie Beszant, printmaker Hester Cox & myself in 2015. We are all collectors in some way & for the project we are looking at; different collections around the UK - what, how & why other people collect - what is done with collected objects - how they are displayed & how meanings is carried with collection.

I'm not really a collector of any one particular item, but generally love collecting items with age, found objects & natural specimens from out walking. I enjoy the process of collecting and find it like hunting for treasure. I'm also fascinated how others collect and how collected items are arranged or organised in certain ways.

For the project I used my 'Map' work as a starting point, beginning to collect objects during walks & from specific grid referenced locations, to inform my ceramic decoration & to map out a maybe unseen picture of a place.

The first exhibition of work made for the project was exhibited at Masham Gallery, Nov-Dec 2016. We have since exhibited at Rydale Folk Museum in June 2017, Sunny Bank Mills, Farsley 2018 & at Horton-in-Ribblesdale for part of the 3 Peak Arts Trail 2019.
